Review: International Parents' Information Day

The international parents' information day brought multilingual parents together with the City of Constance's Department of Education and Sport as well as numerous parent mentors and the University of Constance's Center for Multilingualism.

On Sunday, September 29, the International Parents' Information Day took place in Constance, offering immigrant families important information about schools, learning aids and training opportunities.

The multilingualism of the city of Constance made itself felt right from the start: The parent mentors introduced themselves in different languages and offered their support to the visitors. You could hear a “warm welcome” in Albanian, Bengali, English, Persian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Ukrainian.

The Center for Multilingualism was also present and provided informative flyers that gave parents tips on how to raise their children multilingually. So far, the flyer is available in 12 different languages; most recently it was translated into Polish and Spanish. Ambitious visitors and parent mentors at the event even offered the center for a translation into Albanian and Arabic, for which we are very grateful!

The Center for Multilingualism is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Here  you can find more information about the Center's tasks, current and completed projects and future events.
